Our FRM Cylinder lined blocks don't need to be honed afterall...

I have a '95 H22A1 that has only 85k on it...wonder if maybe I should just use the proper A or B sized Type-S pistons for each cylinder instead of going with the .25mm overbore size...

That "definition" goes against pretty much what is thought, and taught about, regarding frm sleeves, and from what i've seen, this guy couldnt be anymore wrong.
B/H motor regardless, I would need to see some SERIOUS, and EXTENSIVE proof in order to believe this.

i would check the whole cylinder wall for out of roundness and egging, if the whole cylinder is within spec and up and down the bore in all 360 degrees i too have heard of honda shops just droping new pistons and rings in with no hones..
edit: it comes down to the condition of the cylinders, if they are out of spec then a hone might fix it, if they are way out, a bore then hone is needed.

The Honda TSB on FRM honing procedures says that honing is ony required if there is damage to the cylinder walls.

Thats funny. I've seen more damage done to FRM sleeves by people who try to hone/bore them, and do it incorrectly. If the cylinders look good, I'll just pop new rings in, seems to work very well for me.
