Oil under transmission housing and oil pan...ideas?
Been noticing an oil leak in my car that seems to happen only after the car has been run. It leaves a nice spot on my driveway. I've tried cleaning the engine up but it still is hard to tell where it is coming from.
At first I noticed it under the transmission housing. It looked like it was around the oil filter so I thought maybe it was the oil cooler o ring and was shooting out everywhere. Replaced that...oil still there.
Checked distributor area underneath and no oil there so I don't think it is that o ring.
How can I determine if it is the rear main seal? Any other spots to look for?
Thanks guys.

it could be by one of your halfshalfs, if its dripping off of your tranny housing, check the front right...Ihad this problem and because original honda trannies came with motor oil in them I thought it was an oil leak for a month be4 I realized it was seeping from the front right halfshaft, and in that case i had to replace a shim in the tranny the next clutch job I did. Also how does your oil pan look right where it meets behind the flywheel? Is it wet?

I don't think it is the halfshaft but I will double check. I'll check that oil you mentioned near the flywheel area. If I get some time tomorrow, I'll take a picture and post it up of where the oil is and maybe someone more experienced has an idea. I figure this was a last ditch effort before I took it to a mechanic I trust to take a look.
I've done so much work myself on the car that I don't feel as bad if I pay someone a couple hundred to fix the leak if it was the rear seal or something more tedious that would be 50X easier to do on a lift rather than me stuck on my back under it.
