Default OBD 1 ecu upgrades

I will be swapping a JDM 92-95 H22 w/auto tranny into a 92 Integra. Already have a CAI. Will be buying Explicit Speed header. I am seeing that it would be a good idea to use a vtec controller. I will be installing 2.5" exhaust. With what I will have should I be concerned with upgrading my ecu that comes with my swap? If so, can the auto ecu be reprogrammed or chipped?

How firm does auto tranny in Prelude shift? Can it be altered to shift firm/firmer?

Thanks for paying attention. Some people only read what they want to read and assume things. Oh well. The car is actually my fiances'. She wants the auto tranny. I was building a ls/vtec to go in it but when we saw the H22/auto that we can order for $1700.00 shipped, we jumped on it. 200hp in the Integra should prove to be a fun ride, auto or manual. Then the potential of add ons, B16s and B18s will definitely have to be worried.

There are ways to tune ecu's with autos. The older hondata versions are one way. As far as altering the shifting, that will require mods to the tranny.

Nothing wrong with an auto tranny. We have beat many cars considered to be it's equal in the auto market(Civics, Accords, Eclipses, etc.) with 5 speeds. Plus, putting the H22/auto in a lighter car will help it be faster and have less strain on the tranny. I think being beat by an auto Integra(not knowing it is an H22) will make alot of people mad. That will be fun!

That's good and all, but did you take the time to research the availability of a mount kit or research the differences in transmission control routines?

What model year is the engine you have purchased?

I am not understanding what you mean by transmission control routines. We bought a 92-95 (don't know exact year until we receive it) H22. If you look at http://WWW.JDM-ONLINE.COM it is the 92-95 JDM H22 Auto $1549.00. It comes with everything needed for swap as far as engine and trans (ecu, sensors, etc.). Explicit Speed has the mounts for H22 into DA. The only thing is I will need to refabricate the trans mount myself, as it is for a manual tranny. John at Explicit Speed explained what axles to use in the web site. I did research before I bought the H22 swap. I didn't want to put that much money out then can't use it in the intended car.

Does it come with the Prelude TCM and chassis harness as well?

IIRC you will need the automatic P13 ECU, Prelude TCM, and the corresponding engine/trans and chassis harnesses.

To be honest I didn't ask about the TCM. Maybe I should call tomorrow to check. I did ask if the complete wiring harness was there and the guy said yes but that I need to use my existing harness due to the JDM being right hand drive.

I asked JDM-Online about the TCM and they said I won't need it since it will be going in a auto car. I forgot to mention to him it was going in a Integra and not a Prelude. I guess I need to find out if the Integra and Prelude has the same TCM. He did say I can purchase it from them but I won't need it. What do you think?

Personally I think you need to tell them it is going in an Integra, and ask for their advice.

Once again, I will do that tomorrow. Thanks.

I will add that my gut feeling is that I will need the Prelude TCM. I feel like the shift points and characteristics will both be different. I am glad you asked about this when you did.

B-and D-Series cars (p28/p30/p72) do not use a TCM...

H- and F- series cars do.

You will need the Auto P13 and the Prelude TCM, and you will need to wire it up properly.
