Maxbore throttle body
Just got my throttle body and intake manifold back from maxbore.com. For $160, my TB was cleaned and bored to 64mm, and the opening of my intake manifold was ported to match. The TB bore is very smooth and clean, as is the intake. Very pleased with the work. Although I only picked up about 5hp, I've gained a lot of throttle response

Re: Maxbore throttle body (fish stick)
The idle thermo looks WORSE on the second pic...which is funny. Looks good though...very clean.
Do you have a stock intake mani? and what are your mods?

They're actually two different TB's (both from 92 H23's), which is why the the fast idle valve looks cleaner on the stock bore one. The one on the maxbore TB isn't rusted, it's muddy. The other one was corroded, so before I put it on (while the other one was away), I tried to polish it with the wire brush on my bench grinder

Yes, I'm quite happy. All maxbore will do is TB and manifold openings. If you want your entire manifold ported, check out BlackTrax. As for power, I've seen plenty of dyno sheets that show a 5-8whp gain

Sifted through many pages, and although I found a lot on big bore TB's on V8's, I couldn't find much useful to us. Closest I got was this quote for a 1.6L Nissan Sentra
"On the Dyno, the larger throttle body did not help the peak power more than 1 hp but kept the power curve flat across the top for 400 rpm and gave 2 more hp past the peak from 6300 to 7300 rpm. Now the power curve is virtually flat from 6000 to 7300 rpm with no more than 4 hp deviation! This is big fat useable hp, not like the peaky hp that Hondas typically have. An equivalently modified D series motor usually has a slightly higher but pointy power curve. This motor has a big fat slope that is flat across the top. Guess which motor is faster, the one with more area under the curve!"
