HELP! How far can I bore an FRM H23a1 Sleeve.
Hi folks.
My name is Daniel, i'm a Prelude owner in Brazil and the first person to make a H23a1 Vtec engine from headswap in the entire South America.
Unfortunatelly, i didn't had the knowledge about the FRM sleeves and its special procedures to be taken during the Hone process.
Result: Piston Rings were eaten a few thousand miles after Engine Rebuilt. Engine started flooding oil on Chamber until it don't start on the morning anymore.
I'm going to re-do everything. Point is: To garantee no more Pistons problems, i'm in need to rebore the lowerblock that is STD right now. My doubt is:
How far can I Bore the FRM Sleeves?.25mm? 0.50mm? 0.75mm? 1.00mm?
I bought .50mm new Iron Cast Nippon Pistons, but i'm not sure that i can bore that all. If not i'm gonna need to replace them for .25mm Pistons.
I'm worryingly desperate for acurate info, due costs to have such car in My Country. So far my project + car value made me 18k Dollars more poor. Anything here arrives 4x the US price so... can't afford any more mistakes.
Thanks guys, waiting a feedback.

Mahle and Nippon are the only 2 that can be used in the frm sleeves I think. I ran Nippon 11:1 .020 in my h22a ...g hey ran good no probs. 89 or 90 mm is max bore

Re: HELP! How far can I bore an FRM H23a1 Sleeve.
As far as i know, H22a1 and H23a1 engine series can only open the bore to 0.25mm, but i cannot confirm that information without oppening the engine and measuring it myself.
H22a4 and Type S can be bored up to 1mm.
By the way, the size of pistons are 87mm.
I need real and fundamented info guys. Please. Anyone?

XarupS, out of curiosity, why don't you have it sleeved? Fwiw, I have used and recommend Benson sleeves. IMO, FRM sleeves are difficult to work with.

My car will not run boosted so, FRM Sleeves, at least theoricaly, are long lasting, and can withstand a fair ammount of abuse. I feel more confortable to have my Piston Rings worning out over the time, instead of the Cylinder Wall.
To be honest i'm just overboring it to .25mm because of my "Mechanic". He done some Honing wrongly, and damaged one of the Cylinders.
By the way, i just found the info. Indeed, you can only bore H22a and H23a engines to .25mm. F Series engine to .50mm.
The Honing stones needed are JHU-623 - JHU-818. Got both from Sunnen.
As far as i know, if you do not make "that way", engine gonna have your Piston Rings eaten in less then 5 thousand miles.
