H23A1 not rotating by hand need help!!!!!!!!!
Hello I have a 93 Prelude Si automatic. It jumped time and bent some valves. I bought a new head and replaced while had head off was able to rotate engine to check cylinders which were good but when torqued head down, engine won't rotate by hand or breaker bar on crank bolt. Tried taking off the timing belt and rotating it and it still wouldn't move. I need some advice on this cause I am wanting to get it running quickly.
Thanks in advance

Are the cams installed but the timing belt off? If so it won't move because you're trying to push the pistons into the valves, which you've already done once

If you have cams out and spark plugs out, either the block is seriously warped (it would take a lot to seize the crank, I think) or maybe a broken rod jamming the crank.
If possible, you might drop the oil pan and see what the bottom end looks like.

Plan on doing that today to check it out. I am wondering if I could have over torqued something but that was all on the head and cam keeper bolts so the head is all that is left so shouldn't be any problem there right??

Did you accidentally leave an "alignment tool" in the cam -- aka small allen wrench, to hold the cam in place while you put the belt on? Did you remember the head gasket?
Trust me, I've seen stupider **** than that.

Didn't leave any ailignment tools and have the head gasket on. Sad part is I had to double check today lol. I took the pan off and the bridge piece and was still unable to turn it. I had to loosen all of my rod bolts to finger tight and then I was able to rotate it with a screw driver but didn't try by hand. I am wondering if I need new bearing or if it is something else. I do have a new crank but I really don't want to remove the engine to replace it. If I have to I will. Give me some info PLEASE

Do you have cams in the head? If you do not have cams in, all of the valves will be up (sealed) in the head. If this is the case, and you have spark plugs seated, you have nowhere for air to go, and shouldn't be able to compress it, so the engine will be nearly impossible to move I would think.
When you say you back the rod bolts to very loose, this may give you some gap for air to move, allowing the pistons to move.
Just my thoughts from what I read. If this sounds right, try taking the plugs out and giving it another shot.

All that is happening is with the plugs removed so I have places for the air to go. I am probably just gonna remove engine and put in the crank I have cause found out when trying to rotate I ended up stripping the bolt on end of crank. I would just retap and use different bolt but have another crank sitting here so will use it. Also I will have to remove tranny with engine in this car or can engine be romoved with out tranny coming with it?? Sorry I am used to larger engines, but it looks and seems like I will have to remove both of them. If this is the case then I will also do alittle bit of tucking on engine bay and probably clean and paint engine also change out a few bushings and what not that I can.
Thanks for help and more is always needed
