H22a intermittent power loss
First for the setup: 4th gen S with swapped H22, and prospeed p13.
As I am driving down the road, usually on the highway, sometimes when I give it a little throttle, there will be a slight hesitation, and then the car will lose a major amount of power. I'm talking, downshift a gear, floor it and it goes nowhere.
Now for the fun part, sometimes if I just drive it like this, the power will come back on its own. Or if I come to a light, shut down the engine and immediately restart, it will be back to normal.
I have a feeling it is probably the ECU, and I am in the process of sourcing an unmodified computer, but would like to see if anyone has any suggestions.

Re: H22a intermittent power loss (rayrayh22a)
I have a full size radiator, temps stay about 180-190 degrees, so thats not the problem. If the ICM was bad, why would it work just fine after shutting down and immediately restarting? I will be getting a new ECU anyways becuase I don't like the 9K rpm rev limiter.
I may try the ICM anyways, just becuase I can get them cheap through work. Any more suggestions?

how long has it been since you did a tune up... cap rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter, I take it you don't have a cel? are you running 91 oct. or higher gas? give us more info.

Fuel filter is relatively new, about a year, cap/rotor/wires were done in October when I did the swap, and I just replaced the plugs with NGK's instead of the Bosch that I had in there.
No CEL's and none pending either. One thing I forgot to mention though, when I did the swap, I did get a Baro sensor code, but after an ECU reset it hasn't come back.
I always run Shell 93 octane, and always from the same place. I have thought about running a few gallons of 100 octane, but at $75 for 5 gallons, that was way too much.

This may not apply to Hondas, but the idea is in genral.
I was working on Crown Vic that did the same thing, and It turned out the Fuel Pump was dieing and cause the same thing, and once you restarted it, it would work again.

Re: H22a intermittent power loss (Acidcrakker)
the same thought has occurred to me, I have been looking in to ways to monitor fuel pressure in real time, but looks to be too expensive for just a troubleshooting purpose. The car does have over 200K and I don't know the history of the pump.
