H22 Turbo Oil Pressure

H22 Turbo Oil Pressure
Hey guys,
finishing up a turbo install on a 97 SH with my buddy. Today we went to crank the car to prime the turbo and check oil pressure and what not....question is, why are we not seeing any oil pressure on the gauge while cranking? Does the car need to be running to get oil to the top part of the motor where we ran the line from? (see pic)
cant really get the car to run right now because the S200 system is messed up...thanks for the input!!

Re: H22 Turbo Oil Pressure (smp606)
that's the same location where i have my oil pressure gauge tapped in. not a lot of oil makes it's way up to the top while just turning it over, but there should be slight pressure. what's the lowest psi reading on the gauge?
when i first started mine cold, it took a good 2-3 seconds for the gauge to show a response. the factory dummy light goes out when over 15psi i think.

Re: H22 Turbo Oil Pressure (H22Si)
The gauge just moves to right under zero when the ignition goes to on then while cranking sits there at zero.
I also found that the gauge seems to loose power while cranking, and we have not really had the car idle at all yet (it just stumbles for 2 seconds)
so i guess we will have to wait for the car to actually start and idle for a min or two then see what it does.
I just remember on my rsx, i could crank it and watch the oil pressure go up, however it is tapped in a different location than the lude.
thanks for the help!!

FWIW - I normally don't see pressure while cranking. It normally takes about 1 second after the car has started for the pressure to climb on my automoter gauge. I have tee'd off the stock location though, and I'm not turbo'd.

What does your pressure look like at idle? and at WOT?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Idle is 12-20psi? (warmed up) at ~800 rpms
Idle is 75 or more when cold at 1500rpm
Anything above 4500rpms or so at WOT is like 80psi (I think the oil pump has a relief valve at 80 or so)
