Oh sorry I wasn't clear. It wouldn't affect the clutch being fully engaged, but it would affect attempted disengagement of the clutch in the form of slipping. My response was directed towards the saying even if it didn't fully disengage they move together, and what I meant was if they are only partially disengaging then you could have a slipping condition.

But that would affect shifting. The OP would most certainly have noticed that while driving. No matter. The OP will need to pull the case either way, and hopefully let us know what he finds.

Sounds like the assembly is out, and the OP has verified that the clutch and flywheel are warped?

Pretty impressive, flywheels are pretty stout!

With a new setup, ensure that torque is right, and make sure that you don't hit anything when re-assembling. I have seen guys tap the pilot bearing with the tranny input shaft on install, just enough to cause grease to spin out when running and kill a brand new clutch.

Clutchmasters ended up resurfacing my flywheel for $30. Got pretty lucky to find out i have such a reputable clutch company so close to me and willing to do it so cheap! When i asked the guy there what he thinks may have caused the warping, his first question was "Do you have a 3 puck clutch?". And indeed i did. He was certain that was what caused the warping. He says 3 puck clutches are notorious for that. I reinstalled everything last night with a stage 1 exedy. Everything went smooth except a clicking that occurs when i disengage the clutch. Sounds like its coming from the throwout bearing...but may have subsided already....little nervous about that but hoping it went away.

Nice, good job. Trying to think what would cause a clicking noise though (beyond obviously something wrong with the TB itself which probably isn't the case).

Did you grease the input shaft, the fork ends, the ball stud, and the end of the slave? The only other thing I'd think of is that the spring on the fork isn't seated right and it clicks. But you would be able to actually reach in there and check it without dropping the tranny.
