That's the sound it makes everytime I go ~ 4.5k+ rpms. Comes out of right side under hood. I have no idea if that's the vtech or one of my buddies says it might be a valve tapping? I would take it to a shop but I work until 5pm everyday. Guess when the shops close. I also can't seem to find a manual (helms,haynes,or chiltons) that I can find it out from. I have alldata but I can't figure it out either. I'm considering going greasemonkey and replacing stuff till it works.

Thanks for the link. Haven't tried it yet being as I'm on my phone. As to how loyd it taps its audible over my 2 12" bass kickers on a punch amp. Probably id say the equivalent of something heard 10 15 ft away

turn the car on and open the hood. look for the throttle(near intake). use your index finger to pull the top of it slightly and rev the engine. now listen for abnormal noises coming from the valve cover(where u put the oil in). if so likely your valves need a servicing.

Sounds like it could use a valve adjustment. When was the last time you had one done?

Already did the throttle manually, got nothing wierd. No idea on last valve adjustment. just bought the car. I believe it is something with the vtec system, and only in 5th gear. It also knocks in the pedals between 2-3k rpms. or rattles. I think thats exhaust. nothing without tranny in gear. on either problem.

I honestly would still do the valve adjustment. Most overlooked maintenance

Getting valve adjustment done on Thursday. As well, I was wondering if it could be the vtec and if so what component might cause it and how would I fix it, in your experience?
