engine problem? maybe?
Hi guys! I'm a first timer here and I've looked at all forums already trying to find one that related to mine. By the way, I have a 5 gen. lude.
What happened was that I took it out to race and I miss my shift (it was my first time racing -__-) and went past redline in 2nd gear. I was at about 7700 - 7800 before I went to third gear. After the run, I pulled over and noticed that my car was bogging. I didn't think it was a vacuum problem because it idled okay. I thought it was my spark plugs because I also smelled fuel from my exhaust so I replaced it with some NGKs. That didn't solve the problem. It sounds like it's pinging, but i'm not quite sure because when I let my engine idle, I can hear it at sometimes and then it just disappear. I thought it could be my knock sensor, but it didn't set CEL. When I shut off my car, it farts. The sound doesn't go away at high speeds. Any advice?

If you truly misshifted, which it sounds like you did, you could have one or more bent valves.
Compression test and leakdown test would let you know.
