Have you checked your fuses in the interior driverside panel. My son's car is currently blowing a 15 amp fuse and it takes out the speed and tach and drivers side electric window. Currently troubleshooting but think it has to do with the new radio install but just a thought.

Try sourcing a dimmer switch that is known to be good, They have a tendency to go bad. Out of the probable causes this tends to be the most common and easiest fix.

Ok so i had this same problem. I did all the stuff listed above and nothing. Then my whole dash starts cutting out, yeah thats right gauges go dead and everything. Turns out i had a short under the dash on the drives side around your left knee area. Big issue for your average do it at home job. I had to take mine to a shop. Cost about 300 bucks. Not as bad as i had thought. I figured out it was a short because if i pressed around under the dash it would come on sometimes. Thats about all the help i can offer hope it works out
