AC evaporator removal ????
Does anyone know if the evaporator can be removed while still keeping the heater and blower intact (In working condition)? It looks possible in the manual but i wanted to be sure.
the evaporator looks like a self contained unit, is it?

Well, I don't know for a fact, but I have heard from people that you can remove the AC and the heater/blower will still work, but this is just what a couple have people have told me so they could be right but they also could be wrong... sorry I don't have a definite answer for ya, but i agree it does look like they are separate units that could function separately from one another...

I took out the insides of the evaporator box and just put the plastic housing back in...The heater just passes right through the case with no problems

out of the three components the evaporator is in the middle with the blower being on the far passange side and the heater unit being near the center console. You need the evaporator there for the passage of air to the heater, without the evaporator you'll be very cold during winter. Trust me I know, I've done it.

agreed. the evap is just a box in the way of the airflow. Just plug the holes that the AC lines used to run through and you're good to go
