94 prelude idle and running problem
ok so i have a 1994 honda prelude 5 speed with a jdm h22a it was an automatic si before. the problems i am having are that once the engine warms up the idle is erratic and it starts to bog out when i step on the gas while in neutral. while driving the car it runs sluggish when cold once it warms up it has an extreme decrease in power and the exhaust turns red hot and has very little power. please help.

Re: 94 prelude idle and running problem
if your idle speed is eratic when warming up the culprit is most likely the FITV. Remove it and clean it real good, replace O rings and reinstall. You will most likely have air pockets in your coolant which will need to be burped.
As far as the car running sluggish, have you done any major changes or work recently? Was the car running fine prior? If so i would start there because something you did probably jacked something else up. Any CEL? if so get those fixed. Otherwise i would clean the IACV, TB, check for vaccum leaks, have your injectors professionally cleaned, check your cap & rotor, plugs, wires, and also check your ignition timing.
hope this helps

Re: 94 prelude idle and running problem
The idle is erratic after the it warms up I did an axle replacement and I am pretty sure I had the wrong axle because it popped out 2 times and the first time I thought the transmission went so I took the tranny off and found nothing wrong with it so I asked some transmition specialists and they said I probably didn't get the axle all the way in so I put everything back together and then I took it for a drive and it ran a little sluggish and my speedometer stopped working then the axle popped out again so I got a different axle that hasn't popped out I took it for a test drive and it got really sluggish and my exhaust from the cat to the muffler was glowing now i am stuck as to why this is happening I have a cel code come on after it warms up and I never did get the air out of the coolant as I wasn't aware I had to do that. I also just replaced the wires, coil, cap, o2 sensor, and header and down pipe.
