******* How do I tell what year my H22a is?*******
Ok, getting ready for the swap. It's happening this weekend. First I want to be able to tell what year it is...
I found some stamps on the head. Circular things with arrows.
One reads 11>thats what the arrow is pointing too.
Second: 91 thats what the arrow points too.
WAS MY MOTOR BUILT IN NOVEMBER 91???! WTF
The shop I bought it from told me it was an early one (95-96). They did say it was the first of its kind!!WTF.
I thought that the H22a's didn't come out until 93>?
So pro's and con's!
1)Have a closed deck>PRO!
2)How the hell can anyone be sure of the miles?>Con

One other (?) Just cause it was built (STAMPED) Nov 91, Does it mean that it was installed 91?
Casting #= ON BLOCK *** N01 91 ***.
So did I get worked on this motor??????
What are my options?
The engine has a START UP warranty.
Heated!@SHOP.

i think the h22 was availible in 92 in japan so a 91 stamp would make sense , but i don't know how to tell what year your motor is, try searching in the tech forum i thtought i saw somehting about this.

ok seeing as how you didn't search and im bored at work i did it for you , https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=515028 you can get the casting date off of you head, and like i said the blocks and heads prob were cast atleast a year ahead of when they were released or sold.

Thanx man. I did do a search, however the thread I found didn't give me as great details as the one you found. So more than likely I am in the same boat as this guy who started the thread. My casting states "91" more than likely it came in a 93, thats not as bad as I had thought. Thanx for the help.

when did the SRV come out?? ... 4th gen's have h22 as well ... and they came out in 92 (in north america) ... so yup, it could make sense that it was built in 91, since they are usually built quite a bit in advance of when are actually sold
