just curious from people's experience whether or not your average dealer/shop will tune carbs at all. Like if I give them my extra jets they'll synch and get it nice and good for me? or what. I know carb synching is standard but I'm getting frustrated trying to get things running nice and smooth.

you don't need a dyno to do it. though it'd help. it's normally very clear with riding it or just free reving whether or not it's working or not

revving will actually tell me ****. Right now things are popping and throttle response is very slow down low. you don't need to ride it to see these things.
stumped with the carb backfiring as well as stumbling down low with the k&N installed. tried several different size jets and not had luck with either.

the ability to rev IS an indication of state of tune. you'll need to do plug checks initially, and keep an eye on mileage. are these CV carbs? do you have sync gauge?

i don't have proper mercury gauges. I used my mity vac and crimped off the hose to the front and rear though to compare. Are they CV - honestly I don't know... I'm just tired of screwing around with it so much. Rather pay someone right now so I can actually ride. The revving you can hear a distinctive change. Now what part of that is the change to the k&N from stock... I don't know. This is where a pro could help. I'll figure I'll call the shop and ask if they do that at all. I need them to fix my coolant leak too so they could work on the carbs while they're at it.

Engine,
Give these guys a call:
Performance Motorsports
6653 Washington Blvd
Elk Ridge MD 21075
410 579 2500
Josh / Sam
MJ Technologies
570 282-2836
Both shops run Factory Pro EC977 dynos and EGA's (Exhaust Gas Analyzer) and should be able to dyno tune your carbs.
I got the information from http://www.factorypro.com/ since I'll be using one of their facilities and kits to tune my flat-sides.
