What kind of battery do you have?
In the market for a new battery for the F4i. Just wondering what kind of batteries you guys use and if there are any studies/opinions as to which are better...

don't get one from autozone. my first one was already sealed meaning it was used. my second one never worked and has been a huge fiasco (if all goes well on my next visit i will have had to go in 5 times) to get replaced.

Why do you think it was used because it was sealed. Don't all AGM batteries come sealed and ready to go when you buy them?
How much did you guys pay for yours?

because the second one i got was exactly the same box and model and was not sealed from the factory. i had to insert the acid myself.
mine was $49.99, but it is a larger bike battery than most.

a sealed battery is commonly referred to as a "maitenance free" battery, because you don't have to put the acid in yourself. The unsealed kind requiring some work, or "maitenance."
I bought Yuasa maitenance free battery from Cycle gear. Put it on a charger over night, and BAM! had a great battery the next day, and a bike that actually wanted to start.

Yuasa here too!
If you get one just call ahead and most places will charge it for you in advance so you can pick it up and be good to go.

Yeah, you're referring to Gel cells, dry cells, whatever the new marketing term is for them.
There's no way you could have known this, but I was there so I have a little extra knowledge. The used battery that Mike got was a standard lead-acid battery that had already been filled, charged, capped, and returned. The new battery he had received he had to add the acid to it himself - the "identical" used battery had already been plugged... since he had gotten one that was new and non plugged then we've got to assume that somebody had already had the "pre-sealed" (read: lead acid, but already capped) version.
I don't like using Dry Cells on motorcycles, especially Hondas. When they're being fed an inapprpriate charge (bad R/R, for example) they have almost zero tolerance and go south almost immediately. A lead-acid battery has a certain amount of tolerance and can show symptoms of a bad charging system before it's destroyed (putting you more money in the hole). Motorcycle charging systems tend to go bad more than cars do (everybody knows the Honda R/R problem) so I don't like to take the money chance
I've got an Odyssey that fried in no time flat in my room. I can charge it up to 12 volts and then stick my multimeter on it and watch the charge disappear - a tenth of a volt for every second. It's kind of funny... bright red paper weight.

You can download a full service manual here. I would look it up for you but I am not on my usual computer
http://www.gofastvideo.com/gal....html
or you can try what Rednas just posted
or you can call the Honda dealer and they will look it up for you.

most of your bikes are gonan come with a yuasa battery. a good replacement and maintanence free battery would be the "deka" brand batteries, look into them.
