Re: (JDMchris.com)
rear disc brakes is good and all but is it really necessary beyond "cool looking"?
I trust the head of Spoon sports.
This article says they use stock brakes. just changed pads and drums to a cooling vin type drum
http://asia.vtec.net/featureca....html
this article says it hangs with stock NSXs.
http://www.hondatuningmagazine...spoon/
So i think they are doing soemthing right.

Nice article.
I wonder what the price tag is on those spoon pads.. I'll have to check. And those drums.. I wonder where they can be sourced...
I plan on using good pads, steel braided brake lines, and motul fluid. The only thing I really am unsatisfied with is brake pedal travel. If the pedal had a harder feel to it, I would be more satisfied. I think the above would satisfy my needs.
Do those Motul stickers come with the fluid? lol

Well I think at the time they built that car the Fit in Japan didn't have the option for disk so they didn't bother going through the hassle. They went with the hassle of going 5 speed though since only automatic Fit's were produced then.
I think the aluminum finned drums are from the Insight.
Changing brake lines will help some of the travel. I don't know specifically about the Fit but the master cylinder travels also for most cars. Something to look into also.
What heat range do you need the pads for? Low dust or don't care?
Check out brake pads by Endless, Project Myu, Performance Friction, etc.

Low dust would be great.. I want them NR Mirror faces lookin good! But, If I can go with a pad that would improve overall braking that would be great. Which pad would you recommend? Them spoon pads are around $250.. ain't spending that much on 4 pads.. lol.

Dixcel pads , they cost around 170 for the 50-850 degree pads ,this is what we use for the one make race, changing the brakeline will increase your pedal feel too.

Re: (carboy_honda)
Try out endless CC-A. If too aggressive try out there SS series. Either SSS, SSY, or SSM. All four of these pads are made for street.
Those rear drums are indeed from an Insight. Although it is 20mm smaller than what the Fit currently has, but lighter with cooling capabilities.
Insight: 181mm / Cast Iron Inner with Aluminum Outer Shell (4.6 lbs)
Fit: 201mm / Cast Iron (?? lbs.)

If they are 20mm smaller how does it work?

Re: (LSVTEC 91 Civic)
All Insight rear drum components needs to be used. Drums, shoes, springs/retainers, slave cylinders, back plates, hubs, spindles.
It works through thermal efficiency. Stock round drums stay hot and takes much longer to cool down; it is all iron more chances of brake fade.
The fin drums being aluminum is the only advantage. I'd say it would be just as hot but can handle repeated bouts. Much like the way spoon has being using them.
That's just a cost effective way of Hondas doing more with less.
From all inputs...drums and discs work. People want disc for looks or overall package so be it...others want that smg ammo drum in the back to show the world what real damage is then let that be.
But honestly, tires makes the whole at the end of the day...

Re: (dank24)
get some hps or axxis ultimate for the front if you are worried. You are not going to get a stiffer pedal with new pads and lines though. Upgrading to a big brake kit will likely make the pedal even softer.

Re: (blue gd3)
This is the third honda Ive owned and all of which have had extremely overactive ABS, they start pulsating long before it gets anywhere close to locking up, the benefit is its easy to drive in the rain and if you hit the brakes to hard in the rain its not unforgiving, but the drawback is it doesnt stop as fast. Anytime your losing the application of the pads before the time of lockup your going to take longer to stop. I guess there just being safe for people who have trouble braking or incase you respond to harshly in a situation.
