yea, that was my thinking when i saw the price, but then I remembered I am in the market for a economical, practical hatchback, and none of the current civic offerings can match the practicality and utility of the fit. I need a car I can put bicycles and engines in the back, among other things.

Re: bolt pattern (Redline96LX)
Turbo would be good to keep the MPG high. Carb legal would be a plus too.

Good luck with a bike. My CR-V has a hard time fitting a bmx bike without scratching everything. The picture I saw with 2 the bikes in Fit did not look like 26" ones.

Re: bolt pattern (luciferi)
The picture with the mountain bikes are standard, 26 inch wheel bikes. One of those frame I personally own. Its one of the selling points of the car. Yes, its not as big as a element, but its doable. If you ride larger than 20 inch frame, and have your seat way up, you probably will have to put it down.
btw lucerfi, your CRV is crazy! what kind of power you putting down? 2wd?

There's nothing new about this platform (GD) or the engine (L15A).... its been making waves in other, better markets for a few years now. There's already a ton of 3rd party tuning options for it. I can't wait for them to hit the streets. I drove 1 or 2 while i was still in Japan, and they were great- even with the 1.3L and auto. So the 1.5S should be a blast to drive.

VTEC-E is used solely so that the engine runs efficiently and economically.

No, the 12/16valve design is only used on the VTEC version ~ the high end version.
Think outside of the box

Re: Honda Fit / Jazz (carbnjunkie)
I think the rods will have a 'fit' when a turbo 'jazz'es them past their power threshold.
I'm really on the fence here, humpty dumpty like. Seems every HONDA car keeps getting uglier and uglier each year, besides the S2000 (due to it NOT changing). First the EP. Then the element. Then acuras start having big patches of blank metal around their lights, grilles & etc. Then I saw a new Odyssey - looks like a goddamn cartoon bus.
And that's what I dislike most - it looks like a mini-Odyssey. I'll drive a sedan, a hatchback, a coupe. But not a ******* bus. When Honda realizes that 2 ft of air above a 6-footer's head is just rediculous (both ergonomicly and visually [externally]), then maybe I'll start buying into their designs. Until then, for safety, ecconomy, and cargo room - I'll pick up an older DPFI car, gut it, put a cage inside and a roof rack on top, and call it a day.
Who the expletive is letting the designers of all new car bodies get away with this crap? I'm 23 and this is the age when I'm supposed to like what these flunkies are producing. I've had ***** that look better than some new car. I never thought japanimation would have a negative impact on my life. I was wrong.

lol
they will and always cater to who they predict they will make more money off of. who these oddballs are and where, i don't know, but history always repeats itself.
maybe you're just getting older, and probably starting to like simple, higher classed cars too..

Re: Honda Fit / Jazz (XDEep)
No, because I think new bmw's look like a horse's ***. I had no reservations saying their 2 newer roadsters looked like trendy paperwieghts, and then they destyle, I mean restyle, their top-shelf models the same way.
We just have a lot of people who will buy something because it looks trendy and new, not because it looks attractive. For instance, I would not expletive paris hilton because she is all the rage. I'd do it just because she has a trim body and really nice ****.
Seriously, it seems designers want to try 'outdoing' the previous model with some wow-factor, rather then evolving and improving upon the good aspects of the looks.
I'll admit that the Fit isn't a bad idea, but really - they have just a tad bit more power than EF civics, weigh roughly the same given the same std equipment, but have less then optimal suspentions in compairison (due to the goals of the car), and IMO have less potential due to their inate complexity. If you choose to shoehorn a k20 in there, more power to you

Re: Honda Fit / Jazz (HiProfile)
Like I said before, this car's chassis is getting a lot of praise from Honda builders like Spoon, cause of it's highly rigid floor, which makes it handle like an open wheel race car, I think in the Best Motoring video they showed the construction of the chassis, and how its stiff design, and center mounted gas tank make for a great handling car. I expect it to have handling limits though, just because of the suspension design.
