Default Check Enginer Light On: P0118

My 1998 CR-V sometimes has its Check-Enginer light turns on. Diagnostic code reader shows error code: P0118 (Engine coolant temperature high input). This Check-Engine light may turns on after it idles for a while, not always. The light will turn off after couple of days. I assume once Check-Engine light turns on, it will continue on until we manually reset it.

Check the coolant level - that code can trigger when the coolant level is so low that the ECT does not get coolant passing over it, and thus, it reads way out of normal range.

Also check the wiring going to it. Its seem the ECT wiring gets the brunt of damage from valve cover oil leaks often cracking and degrading the wiring going to it.
