Default 1st Gen Block Heater?

Hey all,

I have been looking to put a block heater into my 00' CR-V to help reduce wear and tear on the engine on my short trips around town. Also faster cabin heat will be nice too!

According to the Honda, the official OEM heater is part #08T44-S10-100. It is unfortunately discontinued, so I can no longer order it from the dealer.

Doing some research these Honda part numbers work as well:
08T44-S10-100
08T44-S5B-100
08T44-SV4-100

Any comment on these other ones that supposedly work? Or any decent aftermarket ones? I would preferably want to use the stock heater location in then front of the block, under the exhaust manifold.

Thanks!

Hmmm Bernardi Honda let me order one from online. Hopefully it doesn't kick back later as "discontinued".

I have used different kinds from the ones in the block to the ones you put in the lower radiator hose. Personally the ones in the block don't seem to circulate as well through the radiator but they still work good enough to see a difference for warm up times.

So Benardi did kick me back as "discontinued" like I thought it would. The only other options I could find are a "ZeroStart" brand one that mounts in the stock location, or the kind that goes inline with the lower radiator hose.

Could not find much information on either of these for a B-series application.

I have almost giving up on getting one, and just finally making a switch to full synthetic oil to keep wear to a minimum during the cold.

Engine will be happy, and ill just wear a coat .

Hello,

Do a web search against KIM HOT START and BLOCK HEATERS.

I would suggest the block heaters used in the lower radiator hose give a better circulation as opposed to the ones fitted directly in the block and have been known to cause hot slugs (hot spots) in the coolant circulation and this can lead to erosion and blockages.

i googled a pic of the block heater...
i was like, "ohh that what it is for....!?!?" the other b20 swap we bought from the depot has it,
i was wondering what was that for, we just did a quick swap for a friend and it wasnt an issue for
his crv.. i guess the guy who bought it is lucky if he know how to make it work..

I'm looking for block heater since this polar vertex is becoming a weekly event in the winter here in Chicago.I talked to dealers in Canada and they told me part number 08T44-SNA-100 will work for Civic SI and Integra GRS engines. I don't have any info on heater in hose, can't this clog up even more so than the block heater? Who makes it and what is the part number. I have 2000 Integra GSR
My neighbor has factory plug in Subaru and swears by it, always starts. Thanks

I expect any B-series (or D-series) block heater will work. Only difference is the cord length and the instruction manual. Check your local junkyards, no? I can have a look around here, if you want the exact one from a 1G CRV.

We don't get cold enough temperatures in Chicagoland to justify a block heater on a gasoline engine. If anything you may need a battery blanket, a battery with more CCA, or even a simple battery charger. Even my E85 cars still start when it's 0* F outside. The only benefits you will find from a block heater is it easier on the engine during cold starts and you get heat quicker in the cabin.

Also, that part number has been superseded:

As you probably know this is the location for the block heater on a first gen crv

like other people have said the block heaters for all models are basically the same but the cord length is different and instructions are different as well.
