what type of transmission fluid is used for 1986 civic 1.3l 4spd manual?
anyone know what fluid is safe to use on these transmissions?

being that its an 86, i wouldnt trust anything but Honda manual trans fluid or pennzoil syncromesh(gm is discontinued)...i wouldnt use motor oil....ive only used it in a jam..like i put a crack in my ys1 tranny and i had to make it home from dinner which was an hour away and all i had was a quart of oil.....use the right stuff so you wont run into problems later

Contrary to what the original owner's manual says engine oil is no longer optimal for trannies, because engine oil chemistry has changed. Buy OEM manual tranny oil at the dealer.
