Re: Warp block? (hmtcrxsir)
there is a chance the block is warped, i overheated badly and checked and the block and the head were fine, when the head is off just put a straightedge on the head and block and check, put it vertical, horizontal and diagonal across the block and see.

I've overheated some motors pretty bad but the old iron horses took it
we had a problem once with my dads crx over heating bad for a few mins i was shocked no warpage.
Yes it coudl have warped but from all my motor abuse i've yet to see one have it, then again never a horid overheat.
Follow CRX Jimmy's advice to inspect

Re: Warp block? (1C9R9X1)
well u cant resurface the block with it in the car, but u can pull the head off, and straightedge the head and block. this will only tell u if something is warped. if its the head, not that big a deal, but the block will have to be removed to be resurfaced. why do u think you have a warped head/block? lost compression? that could also be from a bad head gasket, among other things. If the cars temp gauge wasnt pinning the red for like 4-7 minutes straight, then i dont think its warped. how long was it in the red before u shut it down???

Re: Warp block? (antballs420)
I would say the car was on the red for at least 5mins because i was on the freeway before i realized the car overheated. I think water got into cylinder 3 causing the engine to run on 3 cylinders. I tried pulling the spark plug wire for cylinder 1-4. But only cylinder 3 didnt seem to have an effect after pulling the spark plug wire. And the car would have no power at all. And theres a cloud of white smoke from the exhaust. What can i do to get cylinder 3 to run again?

Re: Warp block? (hmtcrxsir)
I've never heard of a warped block, maybe the sleeves will flex and crack, the only the sleeves, not the block. An overheated block will most likely blow the head gasket, before some real damage occurs, but not all of the time. From what I've seen on the sleeves will have damage, and the head has a much higher chance of warping than the block ever would. The block is cast by the way, so It's almost impossible, the sleeves take the abuse.

Re: Warp block? (Mugencrxsir1)
would it be easier to swap the engine out for a bigger displacement D16z6 engine than to get a new head gasket for the D15? This is a daily driver btw. So i dont need a fast engine. But what should i do? What would be the easiest route.
