until recently I didn't even know that the OBD0 pm6 (si) ecu could be socked/chipped for turboedit.

So I figure why wouldn't a PR3 ecu from 90-91 DA?


Anyone know for sure?

Only the 90-91 PM6 can be chipped. Im not sure about the PR4.

My brother has b20b in his DA (h-i-e) and wants to get the most out of his current setup.
Aside from spending money to convert to obd1.



Since the pm6 can be chipped.... do you know anyone that makes a ideal fuel/timing map for B20b ?

Yes the pr3 can be chipped, I used to have one. I gad it running my lsv, so I don't see why the pm6 couldn't be.

It's almost easier. The chip itself has to be cut off, which kinda sucks, but then all you have to do is put the socket in and put a good bin in it. There's zero extra work to do IIRC (it's probably been 4-5 years since I socketed an OBD0 ECU).

Use an exacto knife to cut the legs off the chip and then clean it up afterwards, or use a solder sucker to suck the solder out of the holes around the legs, then solder in a socket. That's really all there is to it

Unless someone else has a better way of doing it, I'm not a pro!

Just a heads up, the PR3 ecu came in "both" obd0 and OBDI formats.

Personally, and i think others will agree, i'd say do an obdI conversion....there are many benefits!!
- the obdI ecu's operate at twice the speed...more efficient
- better idle quality
- better fuel consumption
- super easy to chip...almost unlimited options for tuning

I have used TurboEdit for years on my old Hatch. Its not a very good program. It was great when it came out because it was all we had. I never could get the "off boost" part of the maps to be correct, always ran too rich. It may work on the B20 but I am sure you would have to make your own base map to get it running and then tune from there. I would tell you to go with the OBD1 conversion. It may be a few bucks more money but you get so much better tuning options.

My old Hatch is getting converted to OBD1 right now.

90-91 PM6s can be chipped, PR3s can be chipped, PS9 ECUs can also be chipped.
