I honestly would of searched for this in the details section, but there is really no posts in there (I dunno what they did with that part of forums.

Anyways....my engine bay is filthy, full of dirt and grime. I'm honestly too scared to take the pressure washer to it, it attempts that it might just short circuit something or even damage something to the engine or water will seap in somewhere.

Should I really be scared of doing this guys??? Call me a wuss I know. But I'm just being extra cautious of my baby.
I was also wondering if there's any tips and tricks I do to wash it.....any do's and don't's???

(If this can be moved to the right forum section, that'll be great)

I did it just the other day. Drove to a car wash near my house (car wasn't even warm) sprayed it with Gunk and rinsed it out with the wand. Just don't linger on the plug wires and distributor.

i did this to my crx when I first bought it and it didn't run right for hours. I got water in the system somewhere. It wouldn't even start for a while. If I were you I would put a plastic bag over the distributor and try and not hit electrical connectors as much.

Honestly my recomendation is don't do it at a car wash with a high pressure hose. Get a bottle of Simple Green degreaser and spray down the WHOLE bay really well and let it sit for a little while. Then simply run a garden hose over everything for a little bit to wash it all off. Honestly, has worked miracles for me every time. I even do it to my trucks/ Jeeps every now and then when they get to much water/mud shot up in there.

yea thats what i would do too... simple green works wonders... i would scrub it too if u really wanna make sure its cleaned good

I did mine a few months ago after someone (me) forgot to put the oil cap back on. Just make sure you cover the dizzy and fuse box with a bag and some elastics. Then spray degreaser all around, let it soak and then spray lightly. Some sections may need more than a spray like going over it with a brush. As long as you don't use a high pressure you should be good.
