Replacing Wheel Bearings?????
My car has been making humming or whirring noises at higher speeds, it seems to be originating from the wheel area, I've been told from other posts (as well as a mechanic) that it is probably my wheel bearing. So, my question is, how involved is the process of replacing that, and how long it takes, and what you have to do?
thanks in advance.....

Re: Replacing Wheel Bearings????? (racingrex)
Front or rear?
Front, you need to remove the hubs, get new bearings pressed in with a press, and get an alignment.
Rear, take off wheel, drum, axle nut, slide off the assembly, slide new one on.
Edit: Oh wait, you have a 1st gen. Probably different, but you get the idea

Re: Replacing Wheel Bearings????? (Mr. S)
It is the front, driver's side I believe, but front for sure
I was told by a collegaue at work that I had to take off the entire strut and disconnect the steering rack, and sway bar, and take the whole vertical suspension assembly off and then take that to a shop. Is all that entailed in removing the hubs? I haven't ripped into it yet, I should this weekend, so I'll figure it out if it's a matter of taking it all apart...well anyway, thanks, and if anyone has any more info about first gen rexes in particular it'd be much appreciated...
also, is this something I should replace both of at the same time cuz the other ones about to go too, or should I wait until the other ones gives up.
thanks again
