question about a ZC engine.
I have a 91 CRX with a ZC sohc non vtec motor. If i were to buy a d15b motor to replace my ZC sohc that would bolt right up with the tranny and everything?
Thanks.
Thanks.

You mean the d15b vtec engine? Yes it will bolt up to your tranny and mounts..But if you want the vtec you do a mini-me with the zc engine..

dont reply if u dont know what ur talking about..there are 3 zc engines...1 sohc non vtec...a sohc vtec and a non vtec dohc...if u wana go from a sohc zc non vtec to a d15 b nonvtec....ur all good...but if u go with the d15 vtec, tranny..axles evereything will work but ur gona have to do lil bit of wiring..for the vtec and such..
if vtec...new ecu and obd1 conversion needed

no really im not tryin to spread false ideas, as far as i know that is a FACT, a ZC motor is JDM DOHC motor, the only equivalent of that is the motors that came in 86-89 integras, nothing else is a ZC, ZC's are DOHC how can u say SOHC are the same thats like sayin B18s are the same as a SOHC non VTEC correct, thats just by going by some of the engine code charts that are on here on HT, and also seriously read the motor code on the block does it at all say ZC anywhere??? ....check it out for yourself... (scroll down to the engine codes, 5th one is the ZC motor) https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=642479

There are a bunch of zc engines..Come in sohc, sohc vtec, and dohc..Some have fuel injection ,,some have carbs..The earlier ones I belive had the brown valve cover,,and most ones you see have the black valve covers..They come in integras, civics, crx's from I think years 84-95..Im no expert on the zc engine though..Check out http://Thezcr.com for some info
**** just last year when I went to my home country,, I saw a 94 integra with a sohc zc with carbs..bone stock..

Re: question about a ZC engine. (Mr.speaker)
my question once again, what does the engine code read on the block??? i gaurantee it does not say ZC, therefore it is not a ZC just people started callin it that ,there is only ONE ZC motor and ONE motor that is similar to that which is the motor that came in 86-89 integras like i said.

Re: (wtfjdmbbq)
A ZC SOHC Vtek is a JDM version of the D16Z6. It has ZC stamped on the block.
I have two of them in two different cars.
They are D series engines so the tranny from another D series will bolt right up.

the sohc zc dont have zc stamed on the block.it says d15b,sohc vtec<<<only sohc zc made.dohc zc came out of many diff cars.crx civic,<<<jdm or edm they also came in few rovers cars too.<<rover doesnt have zc stapmed on the block it says d16a8.only jdm zc says zc on the block.the bron top zc(88/89 teggie engine.thats the weak zc.<<<junk i would have to say from personal adivce the d15b is fastest one of all the zc motors.they made a obd1 dohc zc which came in the eg hatch and desols.

Re: (vteckillenzc)
OK, perhaps some people cannot read...
I personally have 2 SOHC Vtec ZC motors and (For the last time) they are both stamped ZC on the block.
Mine are the JDM version of the USDM D16Z6 is stamped ZC on the block. The only difference between the two engines is that the JDM engine has a little higher compression and a few more horse power.
Both of my motors were purchased from HMotors, and they deal specifically in JDM engines.
Sheeeesh...

No,,You are confused ..ZC motors have "ZC" stamped on the block..If it has something else stamped on the block it is not a zc engine, even if its basically the same engine besides the zc stamp vs/ d16 stamp..Period..And like I said before there are a shitload of different zc engines that have ZC stamped right on the block..
