I can't type any slower. click on the faq, then scroll down to OBD0-to-OBD1 conversion

if that is not enough i recommend hiring someone to do the work.

They just passed new smog laws in California where 99 and newer cars simply must pass an ecu scan that finds no cels.

This would make passing emmissions with my 91 OBD0 crx way easier.

If I convert to OBD1. Could I do this?
Or do I have to be OBD2?

If you converted your LS engine to 99 specs, maybe, you would get away with this.

1996 (95~1/2) is when OBD2 hit the market.
I believe any OBD2 vehicle qualifies for the ECU smog test.
If you do an engine swap, then you would need the full OBD2 system.
The hard part to this conversion to your car is the pressure sensor in the fuel tank. There just isn't anyplace to put it.
If you have a CEL code, then you fail.
(search for MIL in this PDF)

This does not GUARANTEE that you will simply get an ECU check.
I talked with my smog guy and he said the foundation for the ECU check is now in place, but it's going to grow over the years.
There is supposed to be a trigger added to the system that randomly selects cars to run on the dyno even if they are OBD2.

As far as I understand, if the engine was offered in several years where it was equipped with OBD1 as well as OBD2, then you can change out all the OBD relevant electronics and hardware to change to the desired OBD.

If you read through the FAQ, there are write-ups telling you everything you need to know on how to convert.
