Default New Guy's Build Thread

I have a 1990 Civic Si. I bought the car not long ago. It's probably 99.7% rust free. The PO did a super clean B16A2 swap with the LS trans....the trans has the hydro to cable conversion and lightweight flywheel along with a heavy clutch.

I have basically done nothing with this car since I've bought it except two sets of wheels...the car was on steelies when I got it. The car is on skunk2 lowering springs and Tokico white struts...it's got BLOX rear LCAs and some pretty nice exhaust that's not loud at all...Ktuned shifter. I have installed the Innovate b series shift linkage and BWR billet bushing and mount. I got some of the BWR competition spherical bushing rear camber arms as well.

The car when I first got it.

first set of wheels. 15x8 Avid1s
Latest wheels....16x8 XXR 537s.
I just bought a set of K Sport Kontrol Pro coilovers that are going on this week.
The car has some issues.....mainly small nitpicky stuff but also some more worrying like smoke under decel occasionally....so I'm sure the head will have to come off for some valve stem replacement.

The pedals are also wonky because the PO welded the hell out of them to keep them from breaking and the clutch pedal is cocked sideways to the left....the clutch is pretty stiff. The trans is not a good match for the engine although it's great on the highway, but acceleration suffers. The radio is wired stupid...there's no antenna so I can't listen to the actual radio stations.

It's a work in progress but I wanted a clean platform to start from. The car will see boost for sure.

You can change the valve stem seals without removing the head. With the right spring compressor tool it's actually pretty easy.

I've heard of the rope trick and using compressed air, but never tried it myself. I know I'd like to take care of that before anything turbo related is installed. My buddy has a fresh rebuilt HX30 that could end up on it. If I pull the head, it's getting forged pistons.

So....got rid of the 16" wheels and got a set of Konig Wideopens with Federal 595RS-RR in 205 50 15. Got a new pedal assembly and new shift linkage. The plan is to do a high comp B20 VTEC....forged 11.6:1 forged Wisecos and Eagles, big injectors, tuned for E85 and possibly a high comp turbo setup later. B16 ain't cutting it.
