Im sorry but as cool as the j series is putting it in the ef hatch is a big mistake. your going to have no hood clearance, no ground clearance, no anything clearance and the cars weight distribution is going to be ****ed. hate to be so negative its just the wrong car for that motor.

Weight dist. And ground clearance will suck but that's a small price to pay for crazy kneck snapping power! I drove a tsx and the torque was crazy!

why do you think the weight distribution will suck? do you even know the extra weight of the engine? the hatches arent well balanced cars to begin with anyway. plus, he's got a tl engine, not a tsx...

This motor hardly weighs anything. It's lighter than an h series. Aluminum block and heads. And actually, yes, this is going to be my daily. I'm going to have a "crushable" oil pan, since the stock one is cast aluminum. It will just shatter.
And it does have KSport full coilovers, skunk2 camber kit up front, and a spc camber kit on the rear. And if it does end up showing signs of very unfavorable weight distribution, then I'll simply add counter weight to the rear in the spare tire well.

And FWIW, adding weight is a horrible idea to "balance" out a car. Any extra weight on a car is bad for performance, regardless of where you put it. The only reason why folks add weight to track cars is to reach minimum weight for their class, not to balance anything out.

Looks like it's going to be a fun build!
Should be interesting to see how the engine sits in relation to your shock towers.
I haven't read up on this swap any, but if those mounts locate the engine well then it might handle pretty good.

J-series is about 200 lbs heavier than a K-series.

all motor is always going to be crap vs a well built turbo motor in terms of straight line acceleration.
Im really not trying to be a dick its just Iv owned a dd H2b ef sedan and Ill never do it again. ground clearance sucked ***. no hood clearance, crappy axel angles. if I ever do a big honda motor in a civic again it will be at least a eg or ek. ef bays are plenty small as is.

why not build a turbo d or b series then...
