Default loud squeeling from alternator belt

ok so about a week or so ago i had to replace my alternator cuz it took a **** on me.... so i replaced the belt aswell cuz the old one made some noise sometimes when i started the car. it was fine for a while, but now its making a horrible sound with the new belt. my question is is it possible that the belt is too loose or is there soemthing else causing this embarasing sound??

the only things that will do it are;
loose belt.
seizing alternator.
miss aligned pulleys.

or maybe the belt just needs to be sprayed with belt conditioner, cheaply had at any auto parts place.

check the belt tension for the win!

I would take the belt off, and spin the alternator by hand to make sure nothing funny is going on with it's bearings. I haven't had very good luck with remanufactured alternators and they are notorious for going out in a VERY short period of time. If the alternator is dragging too much, it will cause the belt to slip.

If the bearings feel smooth and it turns freely, put the belt back on & tension it really good. It was probably just loose. That tacky belt dressing spray is messy and only works for a little while (I've tried it before)...
