Default alternator whining?

I notice at idle my car has a slight whine and when I rev it it goes away. I open the hood and it sounds like its my alt. How do I fix this? Is the belt to tight? Alt going bad? Or am I hearing something else?

Probably your belt. Take it off and put it back on, only 1 bolt, and 5 mins.

could spray some belt refresher on the belt (while the car is running) you can get it at autozone or another auto parts store...

whining should be the belt is too tight. This happened to me when i put on a new belt. but it shouldnt happen if its not a new replacement because the belt cant be getting tighter as you put more mileage to it.
