Has anyone had any dealings with http://www.jspecjdm.net? If so did you have any problems? I am looking to get a ZC Motor from them and just wanted to get a little feedback before I did so.

i think when you do that swap you need the hood too because the motor scrapes the hood, but i am not for sure though.

Well it all depends on how you do your swap, some people never have clearance problems, even with b16as, but depending your engine might rub a little bit, however it can easily be taken care of by simply cutting off the cam cover, or you could get a jdm zc hood with the bump, or even the zc carbon fiber hood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I have also heard about people "shimming" down the motor with a few washers in the motor mount on the driver side where the timing cover rubs. I don't think I would run my car with the cover off. Who knows what the hell might fly in there and make the belt skip or something -

I had no problems at all fitting the ZC into my EX...didn't have to change the hood, mess with the motor mounts or do anything weird with the timing belt cover. Could be that small amount of difference between the 4dr EX and the rex/hatch.

Now if I could only figure out why it suddenly stopped running good.

I appreciate all of your responses. You have enlightened me to a problem that I didn't realize I may run into. However, I was actually looking for feedback on http://jspecjdm.net . Are they reputable? Do they have solid merchandise? Etc. Thanks for any further responses.

I just asked a friend of mines who lives right by em and he said their alright, some of their jdm stuff is pretty used but asides from that i guess their fine, and if get screwed just let me know and ill send my friend out to hunt him down for you. hehehe.
But if i were you i would rather just go to kwatanabe, those guys are in my opinion the best engine importers on the market right now, no one has ever been able to beat their prices of everyone ive checked around with, nippon motors is pretty good too. But i highly recommend kwatanabe.

http://www.kwcengine.com/

Theres really not too much info on their site but their numbers on there. Give em a call and ask em to give you a quote, the receptionist is really nice and can give you a quote over the phone.

Heres nippon Motors website too, they have their prices listed online.

I just ordered an SiR EF-8 front clip from JSpec. They're pretty cool to deal with. Only problems I had were that they forgot to give me the headlights with the front clip but he told me the day they delivered it that he would send them to me at no charge. Once I got the front clip it was missing the radiator support, ECU and gauge cluster so I got a little worried. They apologized for that and they're sending me the parts right now. The body parts were pretty abused but what do you expect from a front clip that was shipped from Japan. But overall they're pretty good and you should have no problems with them.

Just my opinion, but I wasn't too happy with Watanabe. I got my ZC from them, and as normal, there was no warranty. However, (my fault for not checking I guess) once we got the engine to my friends house, we started prepping it, and when we removed the timing belt cover - WTF! only one cam sprocket. There wasn't one on the exhaust cam. If it wasn't for the fact that my bro had tons of old ZC parts (including the cams) from his old ZC that he blew, I would have been pretty screwed.

Then to top it off, the ECU that they sold as part of the ZC deal turns out to be from an Auto, not a Manual.

Pretty shady if you ask me, so if you're buying from them, make sure you really check the engine over good before you take it out of the store.

I agree but this can go for any company, you have to make sure you get everything straight from the start. When you order make sure you tell them that you want everything included and in working order, k. watanabe actually gives warranties on some of their engines from time to time. Just be very clear as to what you want and then make sure they stick to what they say they were gonna deliver. If your not specific a lot of the times they just have engines laying around and pick one and send it to you. Places with warranties are wayyyyyy better but most of the time their waaaaaayyyyyy more expensive too.

Hey this is actually a very good question for discussion, im gonna post something on the hybrid site to find out where everyone got their engine nad the overall experience with the company.
