Intermittent starting
I got a 91 HF about 4 years ago as a stolen recovery that could be started with a screwdriver. But it would take a few turns to get the car to actually turn over. I replaced the cylinder shortly after getting it and it does the same thing.
It always starts up, sometimes first try, but usually 5-10 turns of the key. When I turn the key I hear a click, but it doesn't try to turn over, then all the sudden it will turn over as I keep turning the key.
I would normally pinpoint the starter, but I changed the starter with a starter that worked perfect from my other hf and it does the same. Both bench test perfect.
It is not the main, I can hear the fuel pump prime.
It is not a low battery as it has done this for the past 4 years, although usually if I do put a jumper box to the battery it starts the first time.
Anyone have any ideas? Seems like maybe a poor connection or ground, but the cables still seem fine, and the grounds all seem soild.

Re: Intermittent starting
Maybe poor connection in starter wire.
Not the heavy one that goes to battery, but the skinny one that triggers when you turn the key.
Could also be battery - try cables and see if it works.

Yeah I got the same problem. Its very annoying. Started the day after I bought my car. However mine won't start with a jumper. Starter, main relay, battery, and wires all tested good.

Re: Intermittent starting
Mine was doing that and I just put a push button starter switch
starts every time just turn on the key push to start, and you can
hide it to slow down the thieves.
