Default I'm singing the Oxygen Sensor blues

For some insane reason this has become the code from hell, even though it's like the easiest one to fix. Ever since i put the motor back together with the new pistons i get an O2 code after about 5 minutes of driving, sometimes less. So i change the O2 with a new one.. same problem. Ok so i'm thinging maybe the wires got a break in it so i run a new wire. That doesn't help. So then i think maybe it has to be shielded wire. So i get some shielded from another harness and run it directly to the ECU, still a god damn code. I can't even think what else to do. Tried another ECU too and it coded on that also.

So this is the only thing i can come up with is the new pistons are lower compression, i think if i remember correctly there 9:1 instead of the stock 9.5:1. But that still shouldn't be giving me O2 codes all the time.

Can anyone think of anything that i might be overlooking.

Where do you have your O2 at? It might be a matter of placement. If you not worried about emissions, just get the ecu chipped.

I have a Pacesetter header on at the moment so it's on the header where # 1 and 4 merge together. As for the ECU i have a Zdyne so putting a chip in is not an option.

So your saying you can't disable the O2 with the Zdyne?

Anyway, the typical reason O2 sensors go bad is they get contaminated ie. you're running to rich. So, maybe you should (dyno or street) tune with a wideband to get your A/F right (13.1~13.4 for NA or 11.9~12.1 for boosted applications).

Even though the engine is built for a turbo i'm breaking it in NA, so it's pretty much a stock block. Stock ZC injectors, correct fuel pressure, there's no reason why i should have to wideband it. I'm probably just gonna install all my turbo **** and tow it to the dyno for tuning. Maybe they can get it right, plus i'm gonna ditch the Bosch O2 and go buy a Denso.
