Default help: d series in EF??

Hey guys, ok I have a quick question for yall. I'm more familiar with 92+ civic's and all but I am looking to get a beater together for work since I drive 1000 miles every other week for work and am wanting to use the D16y7 from my 97 to drop into either a 91 or 89 civic and possibly a 87 teg. My question is will the D series engine drop into the older cars? I have already done a B series swap into my 97 civic and have the entire D engine just chillen in my garage. I would appreciate any response. Thanks.

Cliffs: Putting 97 D16y7 into civic before 92, is it possible? And not gonna be more of a hassle than its worth? Thanks

yea the y7 is a direct swap. just reuse the tranny from which ever ef you get ( unless its a hf, haha the gears are hella long then!)

and to make life easier, find a hf or si. because if you get a dx you will have to convert from 2 dual point injectors to 4 multipoint ones.

yes it will. i just put a d16y8 into my 90ef! this was out of a 98ex vtec. it all fit perfictly but a couple of the tempature selinoids are in different areas. i also used the stock intake manifold off my ef because of the wire harness.

well yea if you do find a CRX at a reasonable price, especially if its a HF model, you can swap out the old retired engine and drop that one in, ofcourse you know the HF is for high fuel efficient, as well as saving you money on todays gas prices.....GL

sweet, thats what I like to hear, thanks guys. I have everything but the engine harness from my dx civic so I just need to get that and mount brackets and all since I used them for my B swap in my civic. I found a shell local for like $1000 so I'm hoping I can get it rolling soon.
