heater problem not sure if its the thermostat or blower
okay this is whats goin on . If i am not on the gas nuthing comes out the vents , if i let the car sit and idle for to long the temp gauge needle goes in the red. As soon as i get on it the needle goes down and a little heat comes out , the harder i drive it the more heat comes out the vents . The defrost dont really work 4 **** either but my rear defroster works well . Opinions please, im very cold thanx>>> evan

So when your sitting still no heat comes out? And also let me guess your heater controls when you do feel the air is on fresh air not on recirculate right?? If I am right in saying any of that I would bet on it being either your blower motor or your blower motor resistor. I would say that it is most likely your blower motor resistor it is located right behind your glove box right on top of your blower motor housing its a little rectangular black piece that has to phillips head screws holding it down with a wire connector going into it. Most Honda dealers have them for around $30 Change that and everything should be fine.

I would say the blower motor. When moving the car will move outside air through the vents if you have the vent switch in the correct position. It is the switch for recirculating air inside the cabin or drawing air in from the outside. Check and see if your engine fan is turning on, thi might be why the car overheats at idle. YOu might just have blow fuses on the engine fan and blower motor.

I had the same problem, it was the relay... Have you checked the codes? If I remember correctly... it should be code 6.

yeah if your blower motor was going when it ran it would make this annoying screeeching noise every few minutes, mines on it's way out.... gonna have to replace it.

that doesnt make much sense, if your blower motor was bad you would have heard it go bad (the screeching noise) - mine went bad by making that screeching noise, then it finally just gave out and stopped working
u can always kick where the blower is and it sometimes gives it a kick start but they only cost $30 - autozone and not very hard to replace if that's the problem

Well like I said I would check out your blower motor resistor. Like stated above hit it a few times with like a flashlight or something like that and see if it kicks in. If not first thing you could try is to hard wire the blower motor right to the battery and see if it works if it doesnt then its the blower motor if it does work then its your resistor. Now for the other thing that I forgot to mention about no matter if your blower motor or resistor is bad your car shouldnt be overheating check and make sure your fan is switching on or not then come back and let us know whats up.

Did you ever find out if your engine cooling fan is kicking in or not?? Let your car warm up and see if the fan kicks on or not, that could be your problem with it overheating so it either could be your cooling fan motor or your temp switch. If its not kicking on run some wires from it straight to the battery and see if it comes on then if so its your temp switch if not it would "most likely" be your fan motor. As for you not having heat do the same thing for your blower motor run some wires right from the blower to your battery (or a power source in your car) and then see if it kicks on if it doesnt same thing "most likely" it will be your blower motor.

If you have luke warm air t-stat could be stuck open but then your car would't over heat. Check the heater hoses. If one is hot and the other isn't you have a pluged heater core. If both are warm check the coolant level

so, the temp needle will goto red and start to overheat sitting there at idle?? my guess would be a bad thermostat, as mentioned earlier, check the easy things first, coolant level, coolant codition, fans..

Yeah but he has already stated many times that he isnt getting any air blowing out of the vents unless he is moving with it on fresh air so that would mean his blower motor isnt going on or is burnt out. I do agree though that there is another problem and thats why its over-heating. But like I said see if the fan is kicking on or not.....
