Gutted cat, pipes rattle
I recently gutted my catalytic converter, and now the exhaust seems to rattle a bit under acceleration. I think it is the heat shield, but I would hate to go through the work of removing it only to find that it is not. Anyone experience this before?

Sounds like a heat shield. It really isn't that hard to jack up the car and shake the heat shield to see if it is that.

my car has a very odd rattle too. no heat shields on the entire exhaust, only heard under high rpm or high load (ie 30mph in 4th full throttle). The only thing the mechanic and I can think of is that the cat has a piece inside of it that gets bounced around.
