in theory i dont think it would matter...the power wire if i remember correctly is yellow w/ black stripe

most searches will tell you yellow with green stripe cause most write ups are for EG's...

Oh and just some food for thought. My friend has a green EG civic and he asked me to install a fuel cut off switch in his car cause he liked the idea alot after i put mine in. I finally got around to it and about a month later his sister woke him up and told him his car was in the middle of the street...soem thieves broke into the car, ripped off his column cover and busted off his ignition...but the car wouldnt start because he had tripped the fuel cut when he went in that night...

I have a $600 alarm system that could probably be bipassed in seconds, but thieves would most definantely bail before they found my switch. The $600 alarm is to protect my sound system. The $2 fuel cut mod is to protect my $12,000 investment...

back from the dead and DONT think I havent searched through many, many posts about kill switches that say "SEARCH NOOB" and eventually reference a post about EG kill switches that is iffy at best for us EF/CRXs.

Isn't the (black) ground wire better to splice, since if it "arcs" it will be going to the chassis while the yellow/black wire would trip the fuse?

I ask because I plan to make a good writeup for EF/CRXs if I ever find out which would be best.

Also, will a 20Amp automotive switch suffice?

Thats what i was thinkin too. Its generally a lil less safe to put those kinda switches on the hot wire. And do you plan on usin a switch or a relay?

It is still possible if you were to take the ground that the relay could ground itself out and it'd make the pump go

solution..

do 2 switchs y0 1 for ground and 1 for powah

I always heard the - side was the one to use as a switch.

Then I guess I'll test it out, and take photos just incase it works.

I'm going to to do one for at least the basic switch type attached to the negative wire (as long as it works).

Later on (if it craps out on me) then I guess I'll be doing one for the relay-type.

I am really interested in this. i was thinking the ignition cut off where there is no power to the ignition. fuel cut off sounds good. Id like to make a little switch under the rear cargo box kinda hidden away or on the back side under the climate control. just somewhere where u wont find it! where is this wire you so highly speak of?

Here's what I've picked up so far:

Remove the 6 phillips screws that hold your CRX "security box" in place (or remove your back seat you EFer's).

You'll see the round aluminum dome-like thing in the middle of that space with a bundle of wires coming out. It has a harness right there that connects and runs up toward the front of the car under the carpet.

There are 4 wires on the harness. Two of them are yellow-like and two are black-like. One pair of yellow and black powers/grounds the fuel pump. The other two serve the fuel level gauge.

Most people are in agreement that on the EF/CRX, the Yellow wire with a black stripe, and the solid Black one are the fuel pump wires. Either one of these can be interrupted with a switch... but it must be a very tidy job or it might fail, and leave you stranded.

You should also be sure to use a decent automotive switch that is like 20 or more amps. Using a lower quality switch can lead to eventual failure...it has to withstand the constant ebb of electricity going through it at all times when you are driving around.

Many people will wonder if cutting the fuel to your car would cause damage or explosion or detonation, but really a fuel cutoff is just like a rev-limit fuel cutoff... the car just stops going.

I'll take pics when I can, and as long as the grounding wire will work for me, I'll post em up as a how to.

This is the simplest way to do it. You can also use a relay, which is like a switched-switch. A relay will allow you to attach any nature of tiny low amperage switch to it, and then attache the fuel pump lines to it, and the tiny switch can then acuate the fuel pump power lines safely. It's an extra step in the process, but I'm going for the simple one.

what good will that do , all they will have to do is undo the switch on the key cylinder and turn it, or cut the wires going to the cylinder and twist them together.

Your going to have to be smarter than that to outsmart a theif. The problem with kill switches is that once they find the switch all they have to do is cut the wires going to the switch and twist them together.

When I get the tutorial done (soon!), I will know for sure. Till then, I can't tell you and be certain you wont mess something up.

I used a multimeter and traced the power wire to the fuel pump (it attaches to the main relay)... I then stuck a little radio shack switch in there and hid it well. No problems yet!
