Default Factory Alarm on 91 dx? odd starting problem

Its a 91 civic dx, automatic, the battery has died for some reason and when I put it on the charger and try to start it, it cranks a few times and clicks ( I know this is a sign of a bad battery) but then the turn signals flash on and off and this little red light on the dash blinks, and this happens when the key is off.
What could be the problem, is there and alarm causing the blinking when the battery is low?

There is no factory alarm for that car.

The problem you describe sounds like one i had a few years ago with a crx. It ended up being that both the main battery cables were all full of corrosion making for a bad connection and ground. I had the signals flickering too.

Anyway, i replaced the cables, car started right up and problem solved

Ok, I'll give that a hot, it's just that little light looks like a alarm light, and under the dash is a black box that looks like an alarm module and it says "made in usa" on the box

if you have a black box like that, something has been added to your car at some point

if your seeing an led indicator light (like used for alarms) then someones added that to the car. seeing it on other cars its possible someone else had an alarm put on their car and they installed their led in ther same spot, its a common area for that light to be.

Just unplug the aftermarket alarm "black box". If you dont have a remote it wont matter. Worst come to worse you will have to bypass the alarm.
