Door Dash Light MAKING ME CRAZY!!!
OK SO HERE IT IS...Begging for any help!
I have a 1990 Crx Si and my dash light for my drivers door wont shut off. I replaced the actual door latch, i replaced the little black sliding thing that is on the frame, i even adjusted the door on the hinges.
If I sit in the car and grab the handle and lean all the way in the light on the dash will shut off. if i stand out of the car and push on the door, same thing. if I take a screw driver and push in on the latch on the door, it shuts off. so....how do i either solve this or bypass it so my door can be registered as closed all the time? Im smart enough to make sure the door is closed before i drive, i dont need a light, problem is this.
If you didnt know, if the door is open the seat belts wont lock when u slam on the brakes. This is the reason i cant just deal with the light.
PLEASE HELP GUYS!!

Re: Door Dash Light MAKING ME CRAZY!!!
Ok Soooooo...No go. That connector switch was clean. I took my door apart and im taking a look at the door to try and make my door register and being closed even if its not since I have no clue what else to try...The first pic is the switch that I replaced and just removed again and made sure it was clean. The second is where I believe I have an issue, if i push that in with a screw driver the dash light for the door will turn off. The third picture is the harness thats attached to the last pic where i think my problem is. Can i cut those wires and connect them so the door will be "Closed" all the time? I understand its not the right way and that the dome light wont come on, but i would rather it not come on then ALWAYS be on and killing my battery. Yes...no..??

Re: Door Dash Light MAKING ME CRAZY!!!
The first pic is the 'door latch switch" or "door trigger".
Simple system really. When you open the door, that black L-shaped "door trigger" springs out and two pieces of metal make contact. This completes a ground (negative) circuit on the door trigger wire (green/red). Each door has a wire and if one of the wires touches ground, it will trigger the door open light.
Does it seem to work properly when you manually move the door triggers?
If it works manually, then you have to look at how it physically makes contact with the door and verify that it is being pushed in properly.
If you unplug both sensors, does one of the wires have continuity to ground?
With both sensors unplugged, they should not have continuity to ground. When they are plugged in and operating normally, you should see continuity to ground only when the door is open.

Re: Door Dash Light MAKING ME CRAZY!!!
Gringo I feel like you know what your talking about and I really appreciate it! Ok so the continuity thing...how do i check that? I have that voltage thing with the red and black probe things but i dont know what its called. I dont know electricity at all! And yes if i push the latch on the door (picture 2) in with my screw driver it will shut off the door light. So i adjusted that metal latch on the frame that picture 2 connects to, and then shut the door. I noticed if i BARELY shut my door it will shut the light off. If i close it normally or slam it then the light will flicker and turn back on...weird huh?? So another problem im having is my dome light work. It started working last night when i flicked it and now it wont come on. so obviously lose connection or something somewhere right?

Re: Door Dash Light MAKING ME CRAZY!!!
The point of my link is that the contacts don't ave to be dirty for it not to work properly, but it can be just loose and old.
You probably need a new one and I recommend the accord sensor, its much better and drops in.
Also, take your domelight cover off and make sure the screw that holds all the plastic in place is tight. That screw also acts as chassis ground.

continuity

best multimeter tutorial

You could also try to duct tape a few quarters on the door, to make sure that the door trigger is being properly depressed. it is free to test and only takes a few minutes.
