Re: Differences btwn '90 CRX HF and Si (97TypeR_9)
DX has a 2+2 configuration...(like a back seat for short granny and small children) whereas the HF has no back seat (a total 2 seater)
DX has heavier doors and interior paneling than the HF
HF has a lighter engine and smaller gas tank.
HF has a lot less amenities than the DX
add it all up,..its about 200lbs..

No, i know why the HF is lighter, but I want to know how the DX model gain 200lbs from the 88 model year to the 90 model year.

well the suspension is diffrent for one thing... and the interior i completely different...more ammenities offered in 1990...not sure if it all adds up to 200lbs though...probably more like half that...

how is the suspension different? It's just the rear LCA's, right? Yeah, I don't see how it could be 200lbs different. Maybe 100, but not 200.

i have a 90 dx and there is no back seat. what are you talking about? if someone sat on the compartment that is back there, they would go right through it - it is just plastic. and how did you come up with the hf having a smaller tank? the second gen should all have the same size tank, where the first gen si has a 13.5 gallon tank - all other crx's are supose to have the 10 gallon tank.

7200 redline? What year si has that? My redline is at 6500

Well in Japan the CRX got a rear seat, all US CRX's have that storage compartment. The HF does have a smaller tank too. It's like 10.9 gallons instead of 11.5 like the DX and Si.

The weight gain between 88 and 90 ( Actually 89 ) is due to the change from rear pillar mounted seatbelts, to the door mounted models 89 and up CRX'x have. They had to add more reinforcement for it to pass federal regulations.

So the reinforcement alone adds 150-170lbs? I pulled out the stock seat belt assembly from my 91 DX this weekend and it weighs no more than 15lbs for both of them.

Why don't you take the doors off and weigh them. That is probably where you will find most of the difference.
