you can always turbo it alot of people turbo the sohc and spank on type-r's all day with the proper setup and good tune. I have a d16a6 i love it man great gas and it pulls just fine for me, but it wont be there forever, must have power!!! Good luck.

H22 swaped CB7 with some bolt ons: Close but I still won
Turbo ZC HF CRX: again close but still no cigar
HF CRX with GSR swap and bolt ons (before he got a vtec controller and tune): Took him twice was very close the second run.
89std z6 with obd1 i/e: that runs a full second faster in the 1/4 mile with 1 less cam and less work done

in a good chassis, i'm sure the z6 can hit 14s. a 88 crx hf with a d16a6 and bolt ons (i/h/e) got high 14s.

cool so you guys think I'm gurantee low 15's

thats quick for me. I mean a stock sohc runnin low 15's that thing can keep up with stock gsr and preludes.

throw that d16z6 in there. my friends stock crx si motor in a gutted 88 dx hatch was raping on srt4s a month ago, then he switched to the d16 with header and it pulls haard. cant wait to see him smoke me at the track this weekend. most ef owners i know have enjoyed those motors.

if thats true, thats impressive. he must launch incredibly well and be using slicks.

but some of the responses in this thread are really pretty sad.

srt-4's are not that heavy and run 2.5 liter turboed. any good driver will kill any d-series unless its rebuilt every 10 or so times you run it like a pro drag car.

youd have to be boosting insanley and in a gutted hf with lexan to beat an srt-4 with bolt ons and a competent driver.

so annoying. bench racing sucks because what people provide as "evidence" that it happened is i beat such and such car.

did you really? did you know that some people cannot drive for ****?

no one ever talks about what tires they are running. elevation, which track.

just, I DID THIS and HE DID THAT and I WON SO THERE.

the z6 is a decent motor, youll like it. but low 14's!?!?! stock internals? no boost?

WARNING WARNING BULLSHIT ALARM. BULLSHIT ALARM.

guys with hatches and b16a's stuggle to get low 14's, if your talking street tires.

again, its all about driver, but you're not impressing anyone by making outrageous bullshit claims. otherwise no one would ever swap anything with a larger displacement if you can do a burnout for a few seconds at the starting line, and still run a 15.2.... what is it, a z06 corvette??? a dsm/evo on 22psi???

honestly. gay. knowledge of cars, on a scale of 1-10 = -73

i never said he burned out at the line..i said it popped outta first gear it wasnt all the way in...and ill tell you i was. as i always am on street tires...and why is it so hard to believe that a d16 gets better times in the 1/4 than a b16. considering that a Vtec sohc puts down way more hp/tq before hittin vtec than a dohc..just remember hp gets you there, but tq gets you there quicker.. and thats a pretty big claim sayin guys with b16's struggle to get low 14's. maybe where youre from but here thats about average mid-low 14's and were talkin stock..in an eg/ef chassis. and yes i find it hard to believe that he was beatin srt4s. but you dont have to be boosting "insanely" to beat one. or have lexan in an hf..or most ef's for that matter..it all still comes down to power/weight. 200 whp in a car that weighs 1900-1700 lbs is still gonna get all over 250 whp in a car that weighs 2870 lbs.

Thank you!

I was going to raise the BS flag a long time ago but I figured I'd see how far it got. lol. You should have let it go a little farther, pretty soon people would be saying that a d16z6 EF runs 13s easy!

I was extremely impressed one time when a local guy ran a 14.8 in a gutted CRX w/d16z6 AND slicks. And he has been drag racing for many years.

I would venture to guess that most d16z6 EFs run about mid 16s to mid 15s depending on the driver, tires, elevation, engine condition etc.

The d16z6 is a good engine, don't get me wrong, but let's not exaggerate so much.

I had a 91 Si with a ZC vtec swap (same thing as a z6, only from jdm land yO)

Anyways, with a ZC tranny, still the a6 ecu, and vtec on a switch, it ran a 15.4 on crap tires. Maybe with slicks and a gutting, you'd see 14.99 and I put a big emphasis on maybe.

It's about the same as a b16 DA, with the integra being a little quicker from 3rd on.

Recently pumped a D16Z6 CRX with my SOHC ZC, . Not the greatest motor, doesn't have that vtec noise you might be trying to get. D16Z6 just are allowed to rev higher, you won't hear anything spectacular. An ok motor if in good shape, beaten up it blows.

I have a D15B VTEC in my CRX... Same engine basically just less 100cc... And its pretty quick... I/H/E is all I have done too it... But to have a 'fast' D series, the easiest, most cost effective way, is to go FI IMO...

Here's how you look at it, it's fasTOR then the stock motor, but not fast FAST, but you still be in the 15's just better. Cuttin down on even a second or a half of second is a big difference so goin from d15b6 i believe is the stock HF motor to a d16z6 is like about twice the hp so it is definetly gonna be a noticable difference, but hey if you got a b18 you would pee yourself most likely you gotten so use to that HF, lol.
