D16 vtec vs the dohc non vtec??
Sooo I don't got deep pockets, ain't gunna lie and so im debaiting on putting a d16 swap in my 88' crx. Now the only question is what is better, I've done a lil reading but still un sure. I kno the both pull bout the same hp bit that a bout it and the the dohc vtec is lighter...just trying to see which would be a better choice. thnx

there is no dohc vtec d16 im aware of. both are 16 valve motors though. some people love the dohc zc. parts are a little hard to find but can be sourced. there is much more interchangeability and availability for parts with the non dohc motors. its up to you. personally id go the vtec route. it will be more efficient when you arent mashing the gas and "popping" vtec. lol

do you plan on modding the motor once its in? if so the sohc for sure. if not, toss a coin because performance will be close, though the sohc should be more efficient.

B series motor+tranny weighs much more than d series vtec+si tranny
since you have the lightest model Honda on the market, i wouldnt add weight. just my $.02. you can build a d series to get the same HP as a stock B series and it will still weigh a lot less.

I think its pretty clear when he said D16 swap, which would be better. never said anything bout a D16 vs B18 swap.
Personally a Z6 is all you need or just find a cheap Jdm D15B swap

b series are a pretty penny, and im really just interested in the D series, so srry if theres some confusion on the thread.
i will most likely do the z6; it very light weight, less expensive, not looking to do to many mods, and i just really want to have a good time with it, thnx guys
