ok well, im getting a spark and my fuel pump is working with the starter engaged but the car will only run when the starter is engaged. I think it might be something in the ignition switch or something to do with the fact that the car had a alarm installed at one time and then some one took the brain out. when the key is turned to the second position no lights come on the instrument cluster, which made me think the fuel pump wouldnt be getting power then either as the car acts like it does on the first position on igniton switch.. I bought the car like this from a junkyard that knew nothing about. I dont know let me know what you guys think,

Remove the cover under the steering column, the larger rectangular one. Check to see what butching the wires have been put through. Commonly every single alarm system they usually cut the large power wire to the ignition in half and then attach each end to the brain. You could try correcting that.

But if you have to hold the key in the start position and it runs, as if every step in the ignition has been moved over one spot it is a bad ignition switch. It's like a $30 part, no big deal. It comes with new wires so any butchering to your wires will be removed when you install the new one.

it was the igniton switch wiring harness, plastic switch was all messed up

I had a similar issue with a remote starter. It would cause my turn signal relay to die. I just took my dash out, removed the wiring and patched up my harness, and all my wiring issues went away (even that small draw on the battery I had lol).
