Default Cold Fuel??

one of my coworkers told me if u buy an oil cooler from autozone and run your fuel lines through it before it hits the fuel rail that you'll get better gas mileage as well as hp. is this true?? has anybody ever heard of this??

Colder fuel = Denser fuel
Denser Fuel = More fuel per space
More fuel per relative space = More fuel through fuel injector during any given time

Does this train of thought make sense or am I blowing steam?

I used to cool my fuel when i had my celica many moons ago basically hes right it makes it more dense so you have more fuel in the same amount of space. I made my own fuel cooler with copper tubbing and a old 3inch air intake pipe. I think summit might have something if you search for it.

This sounds wrong.

I am not believing the volume bit because the volumetric thermal expansion of gasoline is tiny, 950 x 10^-6. That's right, .000000950.

Seems a bit small, no?

so does anyone have any proof of better mileage or power with the cooler fuel?

i could see if the fuel was cooled with some kind of ice pack that it might drop intake temps enough for the intake charge to become denser and might result in a hp increase, but the gas in a oil cooler idea is a fire waiting to happen especially if a rock hits it, i dont think it would increase hp

yes they dont compress but they can become more dense... if i remember correctly, just because something becomes more dense doesnt mean that its being compressed neccessarily... but then again its been a while for me so.... i would believe the better mpg but i think that the difference in hp would be so negligible that you would even notice it on a dyno... anyone have a link to an experiment on this setup?

put a magnet on it and wrap it in aluminum foil

then your emissions will rock
you'll never get a speeding ticket
