Is this car worth it?
http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/cto/3514861316.html
Wants 800 may be able to talk him down a bit but here are some more cons.
Needs new hood
Glass on hatch is broken
Needs passenger side light
211k miles
I need a reliable DD for school and work It doesn't have rust also would these repairs be expensive?

By the intake manifold nothing wrong with dpfi it still gets good gas Milllage. The dpfi can also be converted to mpfi if you wish. If the car is mechanically good and decent interior the. It will be a good buy.

Sounds like a good deal for a REX that doesnt have rust.
I would be mainly concerned about the miles.are they highway or city miles? whats the mechanical repair history like? Timing belt, clutch, starter, radiator changed?
Reason why I am asking is because I recently purchased a 91 4-door civic ($900)with high miles as well but the previous owner had replaced clutch, tranny, timing belt,starter.. the whole nine yards. Car has 190xxx and still running strong and I dont regret the buy at all.
The CRX looks stock but beware, ask lots of questions and try to talk down the price so you can get the REAR glass and hood fixed.
my trick for getting broken/chipped glass on my car is: Insure the car get basic PLUS theft coverage. Its an extra $60 but it will cover broken glass in case someone breaks into your whip. Depending how bad damage is on the hatch you might be able to get away with this trick.
Would need more details on the passanger 'light', hood and rear hatch in order to give you solid advice on getting a replacement
GO for it man! own a REX you wont regret it

Re: Is this car worth it?
Check engine if its not the d15b2(or b1) and its dpfi then the engine would be running lean and damage may have already begun, Other than that check tires wear, see if suspension looks like its holding, other than that look for major strange things like any welds or bends on the body, look careful in the engine bay for this. Last of all test drive it do some turns and feel for anything strange, other than that good luck!

upon closer inspection there is a hose missing i cant remember what it is but someone will prob look and tell you, its the bigger one that attaches to the intake manifold by the intake air temp sensor. Also the timing cover is missing so check timing belt out, and the valve cover is stripped of paint so someone has had it off and decided to clean it up while they did, which could just be someone wanted it to look better when they put it back on after valve clearance adjustment or something. And the cold air intake on otherwise stock dpfi = i wanna go faster but im broke so +5 on the look for duct tape and bailing wire aka "ghetto" fixes lol.

Re: Is this car worth it?
i would buy a rust free crx with a blown motor for 800. running and driving is a great deal even with minor problems. a hood you can get for like 50 and a hatch 100. all day on craigslist. but i now see that the link is down on craigslist so i take it someone else noticed what we all said and scooped it up
