Ok, I was at a stop light, car was idling fine, then it just died quickly. I tried starting it and it just keeps cranking over and over. I know its an ignition problem but, what could it be????Help me please thanks!

I had the same problem twice with my 91 hatch. First time was the ignitor, second time was timing belt.

It might have been your Alternator. Mine died while I was on the Highway.

Does it keep turning over and you hear a lot of backfires? Like right before it sounds like it's about to start, it backfires and continues to turn? If so, check the rotor inside your distributor cap. That happened to me about 2 weeks ago. The screw that holds the rotor in place might have come off and the rotor wont spin to light the sparks...Hope it helps.

I had the exact same problem. I brought my car to a car wash to get the engine shampooed, and after they were done my car was only running on 3 cylinders. It turns out that my spark plug wires were old so water seaped into where the spark plugs are. It would go from 4 to 3 to 2 to 1 cylinder and then die out. Pull out your plug wires and check for moisture/water, and also the tips of the wires. Could just be that your wires did not seal right and water got in.
