Default BSeriesDarryl's EF Hatch build thread.

So, I have had this car for a year and a half but have yet to have the money to do anything with it. I love efs, and this is my first car... Now that I have a steady job that gives me decent income, i'd like to start building this car. This will be the first car that I've modified, but I have spent enough time doing research to know what I want to do and how to do it. It is being built to be a street car that can handle the track as there are track days at my local track every other friday. Here are a few pics that I have accumulated since I first got the car

First wash
Parked next to my co workers prelude SI
Second wash(ignore the bunk spraypainted wheels.)
I added these stickers, but this picture is to show the seats. They are from what my best guess would be a 5th gen hatchback. I want to get some crx si seats.
If you look at the window, you can see the residue from the window tint. it's on all 3 rear windows and I have yet to be able to find out how to remove it.

Plans for my motor:
Stock JDM High comp b20 block
GSR Head
ARP Head Studs
Type R Cams
Turbo(I don't know if im going to want/need a turbo, I won't know until the build is done.)

Plans for Chassis:
Stitch welded
Chassis bracing
Rear Cage, painted
Rio red body, black interior.

Plans for suspension:
I feel like I have done so much research on suspension I want to go with, if anyone has any recommendations as to what suspension I should use, please let me know.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions as far as anything else goes with the build let me know.

I'm going to try and update this thread at the very least once a week. Hopefully more. thanks for reading

A fresh pack of razor blades and some soapy water will take care of the old tint residue quickly. Buy one of those handles made for attaching the razor to it, they work wonders!

Go for the crx si seats they look sick. Require some fab though.

As as far as suspension ground control has never failed me. Shocks are all up to you on how stiff you want them. My cars have KYB for the race car and Tokico blues for the show car. Can't go super low unless you extend the top hats.

Those look awesome in the car!! I think i have made the decision to go with a koni yellow/ground control setup. I am also planning on refreshing all of the bushings for the suspension, getting poly motor mounts, and a front traction bar.

I've been working on the body of the car, I have most of the body dents out, the only thing that I have to worry about is the hood and the front bumper. The car should be in paint by monday morning. gonna be going with red exterior and white bay. here are some pics. I forgot to take before pics . Also, If anyone knows, Is the SI fender a little bit longer than the STD fender? I know that it is an SI fender because it has the stripes at the top of it. But everytime I open the passenger door, it clips the fender and dents it in. Is it worth trying to grind the fender down to fix the clearance or would I be better off finding another one for an STD?

Yes, I know, I'm going to throw another layer of bondo on the hood tomorrow. Also the bumper is held on by zip ties currently just because I was trying to fix the clearance issue with the fender to no avail... I'm going to be taking it off though to prep it for paint. I honestly have no clue how it got like that, appears to be melted... If anyone has ever seen this before please do let me know how it could have gotten there because I am completely stumped.

I'm also going to pick up a d16z6 head with dizzy so I can get a mini me swap going in the car. I already have the p28 ecu and intake mani/tb so that should also be done within the next week or so.

Picked up the d16z6 head last night. I'm debating between putting it on the d15b1 block and looking for a d16a6 block and dropping that in. i'm also looking around for an SI tranny. How does one clean up the extra oil that was not drained from the inside of the head? I just want it to be relatively clean so come time to mount it on the block, most of the oil will be brand new oil.

I plan to go e85 but the nearest e85 pump is about 15-20 miles away from my house. I had an idea to buy enough e85 to last a week or so and store it in a drum or something of the sort at my house but I told my friend about that and he said it is not a good idea to let the e85 be stagnant for that long. As for high octane, I live in california and the highest octane gas anywhere near me is 91 so that's what i'll be running for the time being until I figure something else out.

I'm gonna be completely honest with you, it looks like crap and I regret doing it myself with my dying 10 year old compressor... but hey, you live and you learn. After I finish the swap, i'm gonna be sanding it and taking it somewhere to get painted.

but on the bright side, I got a free ebay bucket seat, which is okay looking but will be replaced as soon as I make a decision as to what seats I want to put into my car... I'm also going to be going to get the material to start on my roll bar.
