Default brakes doin wutever they feel like....me no like

i replaced the rotors/pads..new drums/shoes...and it seems like they jus kinda readjust themselves when they want...my ebrake used to not have to pull up very much to engage...now i gotta pull up alot...i know how to readjust this...but it keeps comin outta adjustment it seems...when im driving and brake...sometimes it seems to brake fine...but then other times...seems like i have no pedal...also my steering wheel vibrates when i brake...and i have to sometimes push the brake pedal a few times to make it feel like its responding at all....wuts goin on

Wow, sounds like a bunch of problems.

1) I think your ebrake sensitivity issues are probably due to loose adjuster nuts (for lack of a better term). You can pop up two small panels by your ebrake handle and adjust the cable for the ebrake. It could be that the nuts that hold this cable in place are loose and just need to be tightened down.

2) Your steering wheel most likely shakes because your rotors are still warped and/or they have some material from the pads burned into the surface of the rotor. This can cause a chatter or a shake under braking, similar in feeling to a warped rotor.

3) As for the brakes not responding when you want them to, this has several factors. It could be that your master cylinder is going bad. I had one go bad in my '89 Si, they get old and eventually the seals just don't work anymore. A new master cylinder is not that expensive but they're not the easiest thing to installed either. If you install a new one make sure you flush and bleed your brakes afterwards.

The brake responsiveness could also just be that the brakes need to be bled. I would try this before replacing any parts on the car as this seems like the most probable cause to me. Also, check the fluid level in the resevoir of your master cylinder. I have seen the MC overflow when installing new pads into calipers because of the extra fluid getting pushed out of the brake lines as the caliper expands to fit the newer, thicker pad. If your MC overflowed and lost brake fluid this could be why your brakes feel so weak.

actually, the rotors might very well be warped, but its probably the steering rack end bushing that needs replacement which is causing the steering wheel to shake a lot more than normal. when i replaced the bushing, and still had warped rotors, it turned into just a mild pulsing, not shaking of the steering wheel. someone else who had theirs repalced said that fixed it completely, no warped rotors.

do you also have "sinking pedal" while waiting for stoplights?
